A swift humiliation

As I panted away in desperation
with an ashamed agony,
She coiled and twisted away from me,
like a lithe snake to a maguni.

For every torturous step I took,
and every gulp of air,
"Come on", she seemed to say
"Grow a pair".

And as I looked furtively at her,
jumping like Jordan, Michael
She flew past me
like on Annamalai's cycle.

So I stopped and wondered,
at this mocking dance,
But she ran right on,
with nary a step thrown askance.

I swear, I am honest!

In years past,
There was a boy named Jack,
He was 11 years old,
And whatever he said, he never took back.

Of course this meant no stories,
Or lies, big and small; none played,
He was just a little kid,
But he was straight as Georgie's blade.

He would tell you if you were ugly,
Or if you had stinky breath,
So much so that people thought,
He needed a stinking thorn wreath.

None could lead him astray,
However well intentioned,
Not even his mother tried (after he called her soup goulash),
She had become conditioned.

Though, one day it came crashing down,
Little Jack tripped on a school stair,
His mistake 'twas,
But he blamed it on a wire laid bare.

His honest days were over,
Now he is 54 and some,
He has a huge house with a pool,
Filled through with vodka and rum.

Yes, the school payed out,
10 million sweet kachings,
He had it all invested of course,
And even owns a Chinese named Ling's.

Where is the moral? you ask,
Well look for it up your arse,
For life is full of people,
Who live out a rich, wholesome farce.

The Courtesan

Let us call her a good name (please not a dasi),
Not that she is any different to see,
Her state is not justified,
Nor is it gratified,
Just a better way to call her, a courtesy.

Carthage

A few words here and there,
A litany this is not,
Not to curse nor to rant,
Just an epitaph fraught.

A verse forgotten,
On a paradise on earth,
With a Trojan effendi..
Do queens satisfy the dearth?

Moments in the flow of time,
Is it the past or from the future, a page?
A glimpse on the grandeur and the fall,
This song on Carthage.

Inspired!!!

A wish is hope unfulfilled
No, it is one never fulfilled.
I wish I were handsome,
I hope my life is fulsome.
I wish I always smiled.
I hope I do when I'm riled.
I wish I never procrastinate,
When I do, I hope I am not too late.
I wish I never die,
When I do, I hope I don't cry.
I wish I feel no pain,
When I do, I hope I don't wish again.

In that vein, it should be 'my dying hope' not 'my dying wish'.

Limmerick to the muse

His name is Sharanyan Ravi,

He can probably speak with the Na'vi,

And along with Klingon,

He can say match on,

To any GEEK, this Sharanyan Ravi.

Alternately,

His name is Sharanyan Ravi,

He can probably speak with the Na'vi,

He worked with e-bay,

So I can proudly say,

My roommate is real tech savvy.

As a thank you for introducing me to Edward Lear.

[Untitled]:Meme II

Forget Tagging a fellow blogger. That kinda takes away the limelight from you. So instead I am going to publish the blogger's post here and thereby take credit. The blogger in question here is my best friend Anirudh. Now, Anirudh read my post on the Meme: Abstract poetry and was inspired to write one of his own. And this just happens to be incredibly better than mine and therefore I am posting it here..

Why
Are there questions
For which the answers
Despite their relevance
Begin with “I Think”

Why
Are there thoughts
Built with prayers
Though rarely answered
Fill people with hope

Why
Does every action
Right or wrong it may be
Makes us ponder
“Was it really worth it?”

Why
Does the easy way
Cease to exist
When the question is asked, it should be,
“The hard way or the hard way?”

Why
Do people say “no offence”
When all I want to do is not smile but
Punch them in the face and say
“None taken”

Why
Do we have to ask why
How and when
Craving every detail
Desperate for knowledge
Only leading to more questions like
WHY?

Now if you still do want to visit his stupid blog (I don't know why in the world you'd want to though..) you can go here.

[Meme]: Untitled

Right my brother has thrust the responsibility of continuing a meme on me (play on words? and did you know myself in French is moi meme??) Of course, he also says that I know the words I know (To be clear: I know the meanings). He does not know that I have mastered the difficult art of saying of course and smiling knowingly whenever something you have no idea of comes up. But I am enamoured by words and this may have led to my knowing a lot of word origins and therefore their meaning. In fact I am thinking about starting A word a day post. But knowing me it would probably be A word a month... Anyway back to the meme, (by the way I dint know the meaning of meme before I saw this)  The meme is Abstract Poetry. Now we all know what a great poet I am, if you have doubts they will be quenched here, here and here.

Now I know you are tired of link jumping, but here's one more. This one is a collection of poems by children and it is truly abstract as the theme is "abstract nouns."

Anyway here goes nothing,

Here goes nothing,
I was born in a still night,
The darkness loomed over me,
But of course I couldn't guess then,
That the darkness was only on me.

Here goes nothing,
I married out of grief,
Yes out of grief and into happiness,
For love was the theme,
In a marriage made in heaven,
But mine was in earth and Love not its only one.

Here goes nothing,
Writing is a pleasure,
For it transmits emotion and they lose ownership,
In a manner a writer is an ascetic and a communist too,
You may ask why, To those who do, I quote,
"To those who understand you don't have to explain, and to those who don't it is no use explaining"

Here goes nothing,
I have a son whom I can call son,
Only I don't for fear,
He won't call me father or maybe,
Just maybe because he will,
Now he is 6 and twenty but he was born on a still night too,
But the darkness was there, on me not on him,
So when they named him, I refused to name him after me.....

Here goes nothing,
As I lie upon my deathbed,
I feel the darkness lift atlast,
For now I know that the purpose,
Was to live and then die, And then,
to live again, So as I travel in my party,
The party for the dead, The drums beat loud,
And I cant hear the people say,
HERE GOES NOTHING...

Well I hope you enjoyed that one. Just to clarify, I have merged together the usual themes of any poem, Life, Death, Love, Hope, Fear and Relationships. Of course I left out nature, because my brother has that one covered. This poem is inspired by the movie of the year Tamizh Padam. I am also adding the link which was part of the meme's beginning, Agila's So far away.

Well since a meme is meant to be propogated, I am tagging my enormously talented junior, Uttara and my senior's brother who is an incredible writer, Sharanyan.

P.S: Abstract poem means this.  Very interesting person who has contemporary mentions in metal.

P.P.S: The quote is from "aaru lernthu aruvathu varai (From 6 to 60)" An awesome movie. It has Rajini Kanth in a god awesome role. One particular song possesses great lyrics. I won't say which one though..

imagine

A green hill top..

A beautiful panaromic view.. of village rooftops and misty ponds,

Of distant mountains with snow covered tips, with pink slopes shining with the rising sun,

Eyes closed you can still feel the green around you,

Bare feet and warm grass do make a great combination,

Those dew drops make it all seem new born, Just created, like fresh baked cookies,

The scent of the morning is so heavenly, Sniffing at it gently, The greatest fragrance.....

The giant red ball rising ever so slowly,

The sky a light red, Like paint splashed on a canvas,

The gurgling sound of the stream nearby,

Fresh, Oh! so fresh, Sparkling, jumping water that you cannot see,

The cool morning breeze wafting on your face,

Made cooler by the warm water still on your face,

Dripping slowly, trickling down the contours,

A sudden chill, a sudden draft, A silent shiver,

But, wait, What's this?? Not cold anymore,

The blighting cold driven out by a warm hug,

You look down to see a pair of small hands,

Clinging tight, But reassuring and loving,

The hands of your love, your life......

Careworn and sagging,
Like a banyan tree a thousand years old,
But one that hasn't seen water,
Except by accident and that too cold...

We are thy slaves!! Oh! Master thee,
Into various shades beaten sore,
Most often black and blue,
Yet, We live on. Through your years and more,
Passing from hand to hand.

Cutting us mercilessly,
You call us by different names,
We adorn your beauty or rather vanity,
Saying yes to your dastardly games.

Among these million worries,
We remain amazingly wrinkle-free,
Yet you replace us by newer slaves,
When on your buying spree,
But they with shinier brows,
They too cry out....!!!!

Oh!! Sir and Madam too,
Give us a little rest,
Let our beaten colours be,
That is all our request,
For blue and not brown is as you say
"FUNKY”....

SOMEWHERE IN TIME

this is my first poem on blogger so please let me know, as to how you like it

Somewhere in time,
I see you in your prime,
The place is not clear....,
But I do not know fear..,
Though all I see is you,
You are all that I want to view,
Its so perfect that its almost a crime...
Somewhere in time.

Only somewhere in time,
I will meet you in your prime,
With heaven descending on earth,
Of happiness no dearth,
And I, And I not caring a dime,
Only somewhere in time.
